Antilogic und die Folgen…

Wir wir alle wissen, wurde die ANTILOGIC Map nur gemacht, um die QUAKE 3 ARENA NOISE CD zu promoten (Kann unter www.synsoniq.com bestellt werden, 49 DM + 14,50 DM Porto bei Nachname). Das scheint einige Plattenbosse wohl ziemlich beeindruckt haben, deshalb haben PITCHSHIFTER und sogar EMINEM jetzt auch Quake Maps mit ihrer Musik. Wenn nur die Maps nicht so scheisse wären… :(

Everglide Pad Review/Test

Nachdem ich immer wieder verschiedene Meinungen über das Everglide Pad gehört habe, hab ich beschlossen das Pad einfach mal selber zu testen. Nach ziemlich ausgiebigem Quake 3 gezocke kann ich sagen, dass das Everglide Attack Pad eine optimale Oberfläche und eine gute Mausballhaftung hat. Es ist extrem glatt, was eine sehr schnelle und genaue Mausbewegung zulässt. Durch die abgerundeten Kanten des Pads ist es sehr viel angenehmer mit dem Pad zu zocken. Wem das aber noch nicht reicht, der kann sich noch eine Gel-Handauflage passend zum Pad kaufen. Es gibt die Mousepads mit verschiedenen Logos (u.a. Quake 3 und Unreal Tournament) und in verschiedenen Größen. Preislich liegen die Pads zwischen 30 und 40 DM. Auch wenn das für ein Pad viel erscheinen mag, kann ich es nur weiterempfehlen und sagen, dass es das Geld auf jeden Fall wert ist.

Doom 3 – Possibly the worst idea…

Bei Gamespy.com ist ein Artikel mit der Überschrift „Doom 3 – Possibly the worst idea in the history of gaming“ erschienen. Dabei werden einige Argumente aufgezählt, warum Doom 3 nicht mehr das alte Doom-Feeling erreichen wird. John Romero´s gone. American McGee´s gone. Sandy Peterson is gone. Sean Green is gone. That´s all (as in: 100%) of the level designers who contributed to Doom and Doom2 (Tim Willits made one map for „Ultimate Doom“). Sandy Peterson alone is responsible for nearly three quarters of the maps in Doom/Doom2. Tom Hall´s gone. He and Romero were at least 50% of the game design behind Doom. Diskussionen dazu im Forum.

Paul Steed´s Kommentar

Paul Steed hat sich nun das erste mal öffentlich nach seinem Rausschmiss bei id geäußert:

„I just wanted to say thanks for all the support everyone has been sending. Knowing that most of you out there see through the chaff and get to the meat of what I´m about makes me feel very good about alot of things I could be questioning. I´m still too angry right now to make any sort of lucid or meaningful response to all this so I´ll refrain from going into it too deeply. My time at id was priceless and no doubt ranks among the most memorable of my life. However, everyone involved in this fiasco knows it´s complete and utter Bullshit. I hope the ones responsible for this wasteful and pointless act enjoy what they see in that mirror every day. My committment and dedication to id was unquestioning – people are just blind to their insipid loyalties and petty insecurities. Bah. Whatever. At least John set the record straight. Time and PR crap may try to change that, but he was man enough to speak up. For that he will always have my admiration, respect and assurance that when he´s sick of all that mess…he knows where to find me.“

Challenge Pro Mode Mod

Auf der Challenge.World ist die Beta 28 vom Challenge Pro Mode erschienen. Die untere Liste zeigt euch schon mal alles, was an Fehlern behoben ist. Alles weiter lest bitte bei Challenge.World nach.

  • Railgun bug – now you can´t switch to another weapon, fire, and switch back to use the railgun before you would normally be able to fire it.
  • Weapon change, now if you are pressing fire and change weapon, you will fire from new weapon.
  • footsteps are now always off while Challenge Pro Mode is on.
  • Megahealth respawn is back to 35 whill Challenge Pro Mode is off.
  • Default model is now sarge.
  • Jumppad sound (if you walked on jumppad it didn´t make any sound).
  • Small change to sound fix, there shouldn´t be „no sound“ sound.
  • When a spectator changed name or color during teamplay games without using „_pm“ compatible skins, his model was completely reloaded for all clients.
  • When spectators spectated team games with the cg_forceColors option, all players had the same color, regardless of team.
  • The serverside map item editor is now working.
