Das Magazin Retro Gamer in der deutschen Variante wird eingestellt. Aus wirtschaftlichen Gründen. Das Autorenteam jedoch will weiter machen und hat Pläne. (gameswirtschaft)

Ich sehe gerade das ich im Regal doch so einige dt. Hefte habe. An mir kann die Einstellung des Magazins nicht gelegen haben.

For me, the implications of horizontal scrolling were so vast it was hard to fathom. I saw the entire universe of PC gaming expand in that split second. Horizons were no longer finite, no longer limited to the fixed dimensions of a computer screen. I had been immersed in the PC game market for a good two years now. My goal had been to understand every game, all the technology, all the programming tools. I had immersed myself in the PC because I needed to know where the leading edge was. When I saw Dangerous Dave moving effortlessly to the right, I knew the leading edge was right before my eyes. I mean this quite literally. I knew what I witnessed, and I knew this was our future. Ironically, Carmack and Tom didn’t.

Anscheinend stellt das FPS Magazin E1M1 den Betrieb ein, wurde per Twitter überraschend mitgeteilt. Mit „Überraschend“ meine ich, dass das entgültige Ende neu ist.
Das es E1M1 finanziell nicht so gut geht, war bekannt. Das Magazin versucht seit langem durch wiederholte Fundraiser das Projekt weiter fortzuführen. Das die ständigen Fundraiser irgendwann mal aufhören müssen, lag auf der Hand.
Allerdings sind weitere Heft Ausgaben (another batch) geplant, welche noch erscheinen werden. So verstehe ich es. (e1m1magazine.com/shop)

Neulich hatte ich es so verstanden, als wenn das Retro FPS Magazin E1M1 aufhört. Jetzt geht es doch weiter.
Ich blicke nicht mehr durch. Einige Quellen sagen, der dortige Chef scheint gaga gewesen zu sein. Es sollen auch unzufriedene Schreiber weggegangen zu sein.

Das Retro FPS Magazin E1M1 wollte von Bestellungen (Print Heft, digitales Heft) und Patreon Support existieren. Das ist scheinbar nicht aufgegangen. Nun wird das Magazin, erst mal, eingestellt.

Es gibt ein paar Freebies, früher wie heute. Ich würde das jetzt sofort sichern. Beispielsweise sind kostenlos digital erhältlich als Download: Hefte Samples, Musik Sampler, Heft #0 und das Farewell Pack (Ausgabe #10, #11, #12 and Bonus Issue #3).
Der kostenlose Download funktioniert wie folgt. Alles auf die Karte setzen, im Warenkorb eine Email hinterlegen, Bestellung der kostenlosen Sachen abschicken. In der empfangenen Email sind die Download Links aufgelistet.
Wie gesagt, ich hatte die ersten sechs Print Hefte, welche doch recht teuer sind, geordert. Aber *running gag* noch nicht reingeschaut. Ich weiss einfach das die super sind. In den E1M1 Heften ist ja quasi alles interessant für mich.
