Zum Legion System:

“The Legion System is something that allows us to create believable battlefields, Lucic explains, “The point of that system is not that you will actually fight hundreds of thousands of enemies at the same time. Of course, you could try to kill them all. You’re probably not gonna do it, but you could try.”

“The point is that it creates the atmosphere you see in big movies. If you’ve watched Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings, you see these huge armies on opposing sides and they’re clashing,“that’s what the Legion System aims to achieve.”

“The enemies that are really close to you are full 3D and they interact with you but the ones that are kind of far away like sprites. Even though they are real and exist in the world and you can kill those enemies in the distance they’re not rendered in detail. That’s why your hardware performance doesn’t take a hit.”

Considering the franchise it belongs to, we’re fairly certain that a Story Trailer is the last thing you’d expect. And yet, here we are.

For the first time in series history, Serious Sam 4 will deliver a story worthy of a movie. Penned by Jonas and Verena Kyratzes, Serious Sam 4 will take you on an exciting adventure full of defiance, badassery, absolute mayhem, and Sam’s iconic one-liners.

Oozing straight from the proverbial feather quill of Jonas and Verena Kyratzes comes a story about defiance to an evil alien god eager to bring the Earth to an end. Serious Sam 4 is aiming to become a real B-movie of games, with an over-the-top plot, memorable characters, and – most importantly – heart.

„The first thing we had to do was make sure it was a Serious Sam story,“ says Jonas Kyratzes. „We had a lot of conversations with the rest of the team where we just talked about getting the tone right. It had to be funny, but not a parody. It’s pulpy, but quite earnest.“

„The Serious Sam games all require a strategic approach to play well. They’re silly and chaotic, but they’re not dumb. So we wanted a story that was exactly like that.“ – added Verena Kyratzes.

Joining John J. Dick as Serious Sam is a cast of amazingly talented actors, including Erica Lindbeck, Joe Lynch, Zach Valenti, Simon Paisley Day, and Wally Wingert, portraying iconic veteran characters, as well as new faces.

Da stellt sich mir die Frage, wieviele Enemies hängen an den Seiten rum und ob es diesen „Doom Gag“ gibt, das da noch Enemies übrig sind, aber der Spieler kann ohne Fraggen wenn er will einfach weiter gehen und muss nicht alle erledigen.

Ausserdem liegen im youtube Channel von Croteam die Serienvideos zu ‚Countdown to SS4‘ vor. Darin geht es um die Geschichte von Croteam und die Entwicklung von SS4 – allerdings ist da kaum was Neues für mich dabei.
